Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Mills Memorial Hospital.
Reporting to Unit Manager, this Maternity focused position identifies, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, and psychological needs. Patient care assignments may include antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care; neonatal care (Nursery); and Medical Surgical and/or Pediatric patients. Care of assigned patients is guided by current BCCNM standards of Nursing Practice and Perinatal Services BC Guidelines and Standards.
AWHONN POEP Training Program Details
• There are 4 training positions available for 2024/2025
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Learners should expect to make a 3-4 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
• Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided

Mills Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited 44-bed Acute Care facility and receives an average of 24,700 ER visits per year. Services include:
• 10-bed Psychiatric unit
• 3 surgical suites
• Three ICU beds

Terrace The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. Qualfications
• Current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Successful completion of post-graduate Obstetrical course or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Current Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS) or willingness to take.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent CPR.

• Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Communication – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, the public, medical staff and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice – Ability to promote patient-focused care that demonstrates care for and with patients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, patient advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct patients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Management – Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
• Leadership – Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Knowledge Integration – Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Quality Care – Provide direct patient care as needed to meet the needs of the patients.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical, psychological and emotional ability to perform the duties of the position.
