Job Summary
The Team
The Provincial Court is the first level of trial court in British Columbia and hears adult criminal, youth criminal, family, child protection, small claims, and traffic cases. The North Vancouver Provincial Court is a diverse and established team of 16 staff. We support the court system by ensuring access to justice, providing expert service to the public and justice partners, such as legal counsel, Crown, the Judiciary, Sheriffs, and RCMP. Our team prides itself on its collaborative spirit and dedication, creating a supportive environment where everyone contributes to the effective functioning of the court system.
The Role
As a Combo Clerk (Court/Registry Clerk), you support the court registry and the courtroom. Court registry responsibilities include assisting the public and counsel with filing documents and accessing court records; Courtroom responsibilities include managing courtroom procedures and accurately recording proceedings using courtroom technology. Your work directly influences access to justice for court participants, making this a dynamic and impactful role.Candidates passionate about meaningful, front-line service will find this opportunity both rewarding and engaging and will contribute to an essential government service.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must have Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
- Must have 2 years experience working in an office environment OR 2 years combination of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must have 40 WPM keyboarding/typing
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD)
- Experience with delivering Customer Service
- Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk
- 1 year of previous work experience in a court or legal environment
- Experience in accounting services
