The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice President, Project Controls, the National Lead Planner will be part of our Canadian Project Delivery Excellence team and will establish and maintain a practical planning function (c ommunity of practice ) , including the development and delivery of associated governance, assurance, reporting frameworks, systems, tools, processes, procedures and best practices required to oversee projects in alignment with global and national goals and standards.

What you can expect to do here:
- Oversee the preparation and review of schedules for various projects and pursuits ensuring they are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client requirements and company standards.
- Mentoring and overseeing a matrixed team of planners, developing and implementing planning strategies, and ensuring accurate and competitive schedules for projects.
- Design and oversee national planning programs and projects, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Establish and implement standardized documents and reporting formats for planning, ensuring consistency and clarity in communication across all projects across Canada.
- Participate and support the recruiting, training and development, and identify opportunities for improvement of planning staff
- Continuously assess and improve planning processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness.
- Facilitate effective communication and build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for company and project objectives.
- Identify potential risks and issues related to planning and develop mitigation strategies
- Develop and implement training programs for planning staff to enhance their skills and knowledge to foster professional growth.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- 10 years’ experience in project planning leadership experience on major and complex multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and stakeholders’ management skills.
- Proven experience in project planning with an emphasis on design, program management, and policy development at a corporate or large-scale level
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a deep understanding of planning, budgeting, progressing and risk management principles.
- Proficient with P6, Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard planning software and schedule analytical tools.
- Ability to time manage and formulate plans to meet multiple deadlines within a high-pressure work environment.
- Professional planning accreditations like PSP (AACE) is a plus
