Job Summary

The Team
The Standards and Training Unit is a small and dynamic team working on a variety of projects. The unit supports the legislated role of the Director of Police Services by working with government colleagues and external partners and stakeholders to establish and evaluate compliance with BC Provincial Policing Standards and to manage issues and policies related to police training in BC.

The Role
As a Senior Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and coordinating our efforts to achieve our organizational goals related to police training in BC. You’ll lead initiatives that support strategic policing and public safety priorities, including leading working group to develop training, setting requirements, policy, or standards for police training, and overseeing the governance and delivery of police training in BC. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring the continued effectiveness of our programs and policies, making a positive impact on our community. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a related discipline (Criminology, Law, Social Sciences, Political Science or Public Administration) OR Undergraduate degree in related discipline plus an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent, progressively responsible experience in managing major programs
  • Experience leading, planning, coordinating and managing complex projects and work assignments, facilitating highly sensitive issues, setting priorities and making decisions between high profile and competing needs
  • Experience developing and interpreting policy
  • Experience working with partners external to government (other provinces, municipalities, and federal government) in the review, development and negotiations of program delivery and policy
  • Preferred experience related to policing legislation regulations or policies, training development, or managing other policing-related programs in British Columbia

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a few days at home, subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
