Job Summary

The Team
Join the Saanich and Westshore Child and Youth Mental Health teams as our early years’ psychologist, where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with two dynamic groups of professionals. Each team is composed of skilled psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses, and psychiatrists, all dedicated to enhancing the mental health of children under 12. Together, we make a meaningful impact on the lives of these children and their families, fostering a supportive environment that values collaboration and innovation. The Role
As the Early Years Childhood Specialist, you will provide direct clinical work and consultation for children and families under 12 years old, while also mentoring psychology residents within a vibrant clinical setting. The Early Years Childhood Specialist role offers the opportunity to be part of a highly experienced mental health team, making a significant impact on children’s futures through early intervention.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND registered with, or eligible for, registration with theCollege of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia(CHCPBC).
  • NOTE: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by theCollege of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia(CHCPBC). Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.
  • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
• Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders.
• Experience in clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
• Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services
• Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:

Currently there are two temporary part-time opportunities in Victoria that end on August 20th, 2026.

Both positions are part time (0.5. # FTE, 35 hours biweekly)

These positions may be combined for a full time position(1.0 FTE).

(A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.)

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

An eligibility list may be established for permanent or temporary opportunities.
