Job Summary
The Team
The Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver, BC opened in 2017, and is one of ten Provincial correctional centres in the Province. It plays a key role in the community and is among the largest employers in the South Okanagan, significantly impacting the local economy and the lives of its residents.
The Role
The stock worker within a correctional centre reports directly to the purchasing officer and is part of the administration team. This position is required to work in both inmate and non-inmate areas as well as indoors and outdoors. The Okanagan Correctional Centre has a large storage department that supplies all areas of the building, and maintains a large fleet of government vehicles.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within a stores/purchasing environment that involved a distribution function
- Post-secondary courses in Administration, Purchasing and Stock Control
- Completion of the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) course
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Word
- Experience with computer-based inventory control systems such as M.Y.O.B.
