Job Summary
The Team
At the Terrace Court Registry, our team of nine is dedicated to supporting the court system to ensure access to justice for everyone in our community. As a Court Clerk, you will work closely with other court and registry clerks, Registry Technicians, and external partners like Crown staff, Sheriff Services, the Judiciary, legal counsel, and the RCMP. The Role
As a Court Clerk, you will play a vital role in managing court procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, and assisting the public with accessing court records and filing documents. In this position, you will have the chance to collaborate with justice partners, including the Judiciary, RCMP, and Crown Counsel, making a real difference in supporting a fair and accessible legal system. This unique opportunity offers diverse learning experiences across Provincial and Supreme Court operations in Criminal, Civil, and Family law, allowing you to build valuable skills, relationships, and even travel as part of your role.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent (i.e., GED).
• Minimum of two (2) years of administrative support or customer service experience, OR
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with clerical duties, office experience and education.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience in keyboarding with a minimum 40 words per minute (WPM).
• Valid B.C. Class 5 drivers’ licence.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
• Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
• One (1) year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
• Post-secondary education in business administration or business courses.
Provisos:
• May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
• May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations.
• May be required to use personal vehicle.
