What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a new Manager of Corporate Sustainability. This is a newly created role due to the company’s evolving and expanding programs and reporting within ESG and Sustainability. This diverse and well-rounded role involves: reviewing existing ESG goals and suggesting changes or additions, monitoring and managing the company’s ESG ratings and rankings, report writing (including an Annual Sustainability Report which is publicly released), leading existing programs and creating new initiatives, complying with carbon regulations under various ESG reporting frameworks, etc.
The Manager will report into a Director and will collaborate a great deal with colleagues in investor relations, communications, finance, corporate development, human resources, etc., as well as externally with a variety of governing bodies, agencies, consultants, etc. People tend to stay with this company for a long time because, in addition to interesting work and a fantastic corporate culture, there is good opportunity for learning and both personal and professional development. Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for individuals with a minimum of 5 years progressive and relevant experience within corporate sustainability and ESG, including at least a couple years reporting into a senior leader and hands-on managing the ESG function. Ideally candidates will have 8 years’ relevant work experience gained in a sector such as green energy, natural resources (forestry, mining, etc.), engineering, construction, or shipping.
It is beneficial if a candidate has already worked in the headquarters of a global publicly-listed company- exposure to ESG practices, programs, and reporting for multiple countries is highly preferred!
Some form of post-secondary education is required, and relevant qualifications such as certificates or designations within sustainability and ESG reporting is highly preferred.
This is a great role for a senior-level professional who is truly passionate about corporate sustainability and responsibility, and who wants to make a tangible positive impact on the ESG practices of their employer. Ideally candidates will have worked for a company where sustainability and ESG is already at the forefront so that they can bring new best practices, strategies, and up-to-date knowledge to their new employer. Candidates will enjoy taking on engaging and challenging work in a fast-paced environment and will thrive on collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. The new Manager will be very self-motivated and someone who actively seeks out valuable work. Excellent corporate communication skills (written and verbal) are of course essential in this role.
How Much:
Very generous compensation total package commensurate with taxation skills, work experience, and qualifications- likely in the range of $113,000 to $143,000. Please note that for the high end of the range, candidates will need to have all/most of the nice-to-haves and well over 8 years of relevant and progressive experience. There is opportunity for annual salary raises based on performance.

Where:
Downtown Vancouver in a beautiful corporate office with great views and an inviting feel. Close to public transit and many amenities like restaurants and shops. Hybrid Model: During initial training, onboarding, and relationship building, it is preferred that the Manager be in the office 4-5 days/week. After that, the Manager can regularly work from home 1 or 2 days a week.
