Overview

The Business Engagement Services (BES) department of WorkSafeBC is looking for 2 (two) highly motivated, dynamic, innovative Business Analyst interns to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.

The Business Engagement Services (BES) Department in the Innovation & Technology Division of WorkSafeBC is an internal consulting team of approximately 35 process improvements and technology professionals, we deliver Project Management, Business Analysis and Change Management services to help solve business problems. BES is responsible for developing and maintaining consistent and efficient business processes using recognized business process improvement methodologies. BES liaises with management and staff to analyze the way work is currently done and identify process gaps and improvements in order to support corporate and divisional strategies.

Thsi is a 4 month work term beginning in January 2025.

Where you’ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you’ll work primarily from your Lower Mainland home and be on-site in our Richmond office at a minimum of once per week or based on operationals needs.

What you’ll do

On Day 1 in this role, you will get a chance to meet your manager and get acquainted with your team. You will spend time setting up administrative and technological essentials, and completing onboarding tasks, including security and payroll setup.

During your first week you will engage in a comprehensive onboarding program designed to equip you for success. You will be partnering and meeting with your manager to discuss your goals and align them with the team’s vision. Additionally, you will learn how our department contributes to the overall business strategy and supports the organization’s mandate. You will also work through the onboarding program alongside your supervisor for added guidance and support.

  • Gather and analyze information from a broad variety of stakeholders (e.g., senior management, line management and staff); identify risks and opportunities and make recommendations that further WorkSafeBC’s strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to pertinent stakeholders.
  • Develop and/or improve business processes.
  • Analyze operations in specific business areas to improve efficiency and quality
  • Assist project teams in analyzing and documenting business processes impacted by new systems or system enhancements.

Your background and experience

  • MBA Internship major or specialization in any of the following: Consulting, Strategy, Technology, Innovation, or Operations Management
  • Working knowledge in the following areas would be an asset: project management, process improvement, program evaluation, data analysis, facilitation, research, innovation, or change management
  • Other required experience: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
