The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 114-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. We are looking for individuals to join our Fair and Festival Operations team to support the operation of our Winter Fair skating rink. Our Skate Patrol Attendant will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable skating environment for guests. They will respond to guest inquiries and enforce skating rules and procedures while providing a high level of customer service to our Winter Fair guests.

What will you do this year?

In your role as a Skate Patrol Attendant your primary accountabilities will be to:

  • Enforce skating rules & procedures.
  • Ensure that the ice is safe and ready for use before opening.
  • Record and log all information pertaining to the arena.
  • Keep department supervisors and Skate Shop Attendants information and relay any urgent matters.
  • Accurately complete incident reports and all other required documentation.
  • Respond to public inquiries on matters related to the arena.
  • Assist in identifying and responding to First Aid emergencies.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What else?

  • Must be over the age of 15 years or older by December 6, 2024.
  • Must have advanced skating ability and be able to skate for long durations.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1, Basic First Aid, or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
  • Willing and able to work a variety of shifts including day, evening, and weekend shifts between December 6 – 8, 12 – 23, 2024.
  • Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
