Job Summary

The Team
The Corporate Wildfire Services Centre team in Kamloops is a dedicated, cohesive group that brings together Fire Centre Zone staff, program area management, and clerical experts. The team works closely together to maintain business continuity, ensuring smooth and efficient operations in key areas like accounts payable, contract management, and Time & Leave support. Team members demonstrate professionalism and care by helping each other, staying focused, and consistently delivering results with minimal errors.

The Role
The Wildfire Services Administrator is the essential link that keeps the unit running smoothly. Reporting directly to the Wildfire Services Officer, this role ensures cohesive and professional wildfire services while supporting internal staff and Fire Centre employees, along with Zones and Sections across the province. Leading a team of 4-6 clerks, the Administrator plays a key role in maintaining the efficient operation of a large and active Fire Centre. This role offers growth and development in a workplace that thrives on teamwork, collaboration, and leadership.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in a field related to business administration, financial administration, human resources or public administration and 1 year of related experience; OR
  • Certificate in business administration, financial administration, human resources or public administration and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Grade 12 graduation and 3 years related experience.

Related experience should include related financial administration experience in a computerized environment.

Preference Statements

  • Preference may be given to candidates with supervisory experience.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in contract administration.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in Human Resources.

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures.
  • To keep current on emerging issues.
  • To take in-house training and certification as required.
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
  • To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned.
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.

About this Position:
This position is located in Kamloops, and has full time on-site requirements.
After successful completion of probation period (6 months) flexible work options may be available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
