Job Summary

The Team
The Family Information Liaison Unit (BC FILU) is a dedicated team that provides frontline victim services for family members of missing or murdered Indigenous women and girls across the province. Comprised of support workers and management, our team works closely to offer trauma-informed, culturally sensitive services, ensuring families receive the information and resources they need. Established in 2017, BC FILU is committed to fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment, driven by our staff’s unwavering dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support.

The Role
In this role, you’ll collaborate with the manager and support workers to coordinate program activities and manage administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of services for Indigenous families. By joining the BC FILU team, you’ll play a vital part in providing compassionate, trauma-informed support to those affected by the loss of a loved one. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, contributing to reconciliation and healing within communities, while helping families access the resources and care they need.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience:
    • Providing program/administrative support to a team in an office setting
    • Providing service to people impacted by trauma; and
    • Using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint and other standard computer applications

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities
  • Post-secondary training or education in the social services, finance, business administration or a related field
  • Experience providing project management support services
  • Due to the nature of the position and the mandate of the BC FILU, preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
