Business Analyst responsible for enhancement and development of BMO Prime Finance Synthetic Technology Platform & initiatives. This role requires extensive experience in Capital Markets. In this role, you will be responsible for liaising with Business & Operations stakeholders, effectively perform business analysis, writing functional requirements & use cases and coordinating with technology team driving design, solutioning, implementation to delivery. The ideal candidate will be someone with broad product knowledge of Synthetic products like Swaps with an excellent understanding of the Equity & Fixed Income asset classes.

  • Develop & expand Prime Finance Synthetic platform leveraging vendor products – SwapOne & Imagine.
  • Plan, gather, and document clear, concise, and well-structured high-quality business, functional & technical requirements along with current/future state, and gap analysis.
  • Identify and analyze business problems, defining the scope of activities required to address issues, process review, impact assessment, and operational streamlining where appropriate to implement automated solutions.
  • Must be able to elicit requirements from stakeholders and user groups, efficiently and effectively managing the time spent with them with a plan and an agenda and by controlling the scope of discussions and requirements. Being prepared for meetings and following up with detailed minutes is also expected.
  • Manage prioritization with Business, Operations, and IT stakeholders.
  • Assess functional, project & delivery risk and communicate mitigating actions to the stakeholders.
  • Articulate functional requirements for the development team driving design to delivery.
  • Develop & implement user acceptance testing plans, recommending actions based on results before production release, manage change requests, document workflows, and obtain sign-off from stakeholders.
  • Participate in regulatory projects, ensuring compliance with national and international reporting standards.
  • L3 support when required during or after business hours and help resolve production issues in a timely manner.

Essential Skills & Competencies :

Product / Domain Knowledge

  • Excellent functional understanding of Swaps – Equity & Convertible asset types, Swap life cycle, Corporate Actions, Margin & Client Reporting functions.
  • Experience using Synthetic products – SwapOne or Imagine – is desirable.
  • Financial Services, Market/Reference data

Business Analysis

  • Expertise in business process modeling and process mapping.
  • Capable of writing clear, concise, and well-structured high-quality business & functional requirements, current/future state, gap analysis, use cases, test plans and test cases.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to think critically and ability to resolve minor conflicts/issues before escalation.
  • Ability to identify process gaps, opportunities for improvement through the analysis of business requirements/problems/needs, data, processes, and systems.
  • Ability to take a large, complicated task or problem and break it down into manageable increments of work that can be delivered in a logical order.

Organizational

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and understand project needs.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand organizational structure, business strategies, and processes.
  • Ability to manage up, across teams & functions.

Communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong coordination, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and confidence to stakeholders and within the project team, lead discussions, ask intelligent questions and listen.

Technical

  • Proficient in using database systems with hands on experience using SQL queries & store procedures to query & extract data.
  • Hands-on experience with a programming language like Python, .Net or Java is most desirable.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, and best practices around SDLC using Sprints, collaborative development workflows including Confluence & Jira.

  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Salary :

$74,800.00 – $138,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
