Job Skills / Requirements

The primary responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor is to function as the security officer in charge of an airport security team during an assigned shift. Job Duties

Shift Supervisor duties and responsibilities are detailed in Work Instructions, which include but are not limited to the following:
•Coordinates and schedules the deployment of Security Personnel to maximize coverage of airport grounds, roadways, ATB and facilities, and construction and contractor escorts;
•Assigns aviation Security Personnel to cover emergency situations and special event
•Act as first point of contact with staff and airport customers in theevent of an incident; must take charge and lead response to successful conclusion;
•Provides backup and assistance in response to disturbances on airport grounds and crowd and traffic control in ATB areas, as required;
•Observe any persons acting suspicious or demonstrating unusual behavior; engage the person in conversation to determine the cause and find an appropriate method of resolving the situation;
•Observe and report individuals found violating or suspected of violating city, provincial and federal laws, as required;
•Coordinates the transfer, transportation and processing of arrested or detained individuals with the RCMP;
•Reviews and approves submitted incident reports and prepares comprehensive reports on security operations;
•Oversees the preparation of and completes staff performance appraisals;
•Makes recommendations for discipline and implements corrective or disciplinary actions;
•Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment as needed;
•Updates and maintains statistical and narrative reports documenting administrative

Requirements

•Valid Restricted Area Identification Card
•Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
•Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
•Good problem solving and decision making skills, including working under pressure.
•Discretion when handling confidential and private information.
•Ability to pass a security clearance
•Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
•Flexible availability including weekends and graveyard shifts.
•Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma.
•Basic Security Training, a valid security licence and first aid training are considered assets.
•2 years of supervisory experience
