Controller

Senior management opportunity with a well-established not-for-profit organization based in Richmond, BC. Well-rounded role involving mostly accounting & finance, but also overseeing IT, Human Resources, and Administration.  Very values-based and reputable business.

Who- the Company: 
This not-for-profit organization (NPO) has been operating in Richmond for many decades. They provide excellent care and service for their long-term clients. Small corporate office team, plus front-line employees who are unionized.

What- the Role:
Our client seeking a new Controller. Reporting into the Executive Director, the Controller will have a wide variety of tasks covering accounting & finance, human resources, information technology & systems, and administration. This is a great role for someone who loves diversity in their day-to-day!
Accounting & Finance is the main focus of the role and includes preparing monthly financial statements, budgeting & forecasting, cash flow management, working with funders, leading year-end with external auditors, supervising payroll, and supervising AP & AR (which is processed by an internal bookkeeper). SWIM will provide interested candidates with a thorough job description.

Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for an individual with at least 8 years of full-cycle accounting work experience, including at least a couple years in a management capacity. Canadian CPA designation is required. It is highly preferred that candidates have worked with an NPO (not for profit organization) before, ideally with a partially unionized workforce. We are seeking candidates who have “worn many hats” on a small corporate team, preferably with oversight of HR and/or IT and/or Administration, in addition to accounting & finance. Must be systems savvy, with experience updating internal software and liaising with external IT service providers.  Strong Excel skills are a requirement.

Beyond the skills and work experience, we’re looking for candidates with great soft skills- organized, reliable, friendly, efficient, collaborative, compassionate, kind, detail-oriented, etc.

How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education- in the range of $105,000 to maximum $115,000.  The company will provide their new Controller with health benefits and paid vacation. Please discuss your compensation expectations in more detail with SWIM.
