Job Summary

The Team
The Business Communication Solutions team are about a dozen ordinary people doing extraordinary things: we provide the software and infrastructure for GCPE to be able to do the important work they do communicating with people in British Columbia. BCS also provides the tools for GCPE to coordinate and communicate across Ministries.

The Role
To manage the corporate software architectural development environment and infrastructure across multiple environments and ministries/sectors, mission critical applications and to provide technical expertise and standards to systems professionals developing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining custom applications.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Significant experience in evaluating technology options, presenting technical concepts to non-technical partners, and leading technology strategy and implementation.
  • Significant experience in leading the design and implementation of enterprise-level technology solutions, including infrastructure and architecture.
  • Experience in developing multi-year technology roadmaps and aligning technology strategies with business goals.
  • Experience in leading technical projects, managing resources, and ensuring successful project delivery.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Preference for candidates holding advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, or similar.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms like OpenShift, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including design, deployment, and management of cloud-based solutions.
  • Possession of cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience in designing and managing large-scale, mission-critical systems and applications in a complex organizational environment.
  • Experience working on cross-government initiatives or with multiple government agencies to align technology solutions.
  • Experience developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans for IT systems.
  • Experience with data management principles, including data governance, data architecture, and data integration.
  • Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and third-party service providers.
  • Experience in driving innovation and staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Experience with partner engagement, including a history of successfully managing expectations and delivering value to business units.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Experience working within the public sector or familiarity with government processes and regulations.
