Job Summary

Haida Gwaii is the unceded territory of the Haida Nation which is known for his rich Haida history, centuries-old totem poles, temperate rainforest climate and breathtaking beauty. The Village of Queen Charlotte , Daajing Giids Llnagaay, is the main administrative centre for the island which offers an abundance of hiking/biking trails, beaches, fishing, boating, kayaking, camping, and spectacular sunsets on the ocean.

The Team
The Ministry of Children and Family Development promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in BC. The Service Delivery Division is responsible for regional delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth and their families.

The Role
As the Office Manager, you provide support to branch management and staff and coordinate office administration functions, human resources, payroll, records management, facilities and asset management. Your expertise in government procedures and strong attention to quality will help you coordinate the management of all records and documentation for the branch including the ARCS/ORCS record management system.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (i.e. GED).
  • Experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • More than one (1) year of experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • More than six (6) months (within the last 5 years) experience leading others in an administrative setting.
  • Experience in the human and/or social service sector.
  • Experience using applications such as: Integrated Case Management (ICM), Management Information System (MIS), Administrative Records Classification System (ARCS) and/or Operational Records Classification Systems (ORCS), and/or Time and Leave Management (TALM).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
There is one (1) full time regular position available in Daajing Giids (Queen Charlotte City) office.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to two days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
