About the Opportunity
Jewel Welding is looking for a full-time Metal Fabricator to work on our projects in Maple Ridge, B.C.
In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication of process piping and large-diameter pipelines, with a focus on precision, quality control, and craftsmanship. Reporting to the Foreman, you will utilize your extensive experience and technical skills to read and interpret blueprints, plan tasks, and fabricate pipe spools while mentoring apprentices and supporting team operations.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Studying engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan fabrication tasks
- Determining required materials and quantities, and creating cut lists for projects
- Laying out reference points and patterns on pipe according to specifications
- Constructing fabrications using patterns and templates as guides
- Performing quality control checks on completed fabrications
- Identifying classes and grades of pipe, fittings, and components
- Rigging, hoisting, and moving materials safely within the worksite
- Operating metalworking machines, including CNC equipment, brake presses, and grinders
- Utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling
- Supporting welders at specific project stages
- Working collaboratively with field engineers and clients to plan project details
- Mentoring apprentices and acting as a role model for junior fabricators
About You
To qualify, you will need 7-10 years of related fabrication experience, along with a provincial Journeyperson or Red Seal certification. A valid driver’s license is required.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience with process piping and large-diameter pipelines
- Strong foundation in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3 codes
- Proficiency with various metalworking machines, including CNC equipment, brake presses, and grinders
- Experience with rigging, hoisting, and material movement within worksites
- Familiarity with overhead cranes and forklifts
- Knowledge of mechanical installation for chambers and pump stations
- Background in structural or pressure vessel fabrication
