For this exciting position we are specifically targeting students with a background in Geological, Geotechnical, Mining or Environmental Engineering. We are looking for students with good communication and interpersonal skills, an analytical mentality, and a drive to learn. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you may need to relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must be a student currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you must also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
  • Assist with ongoing geotechnical monitoring and hazard management support activities
  • Working with employees and consultants to complete various geotechnical assessments
  • Build and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business

Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree or equivalent experience in Geological, Geotechnical, Mining or Environmental Engineering with soil mechanics, tailings, or rock mechanics background
  • Motivated self-starters with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted work environment with a willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our sites, in various weather conditions and terrain, including holding a valid driver’s license
  • Strong written, verbal andinterpersonalcommunication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels and partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Eligible for enrollment with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)

Salary Range: $4000 – $5200 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
