Job Summary
The Team
The Mineral Titles Branch team is part of the Responsible Mining and Competitiveness Division (RMCD) in the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. The Branch administers the Mineral Tenure Act and Coal Act and manages the registration and maintenance of mineral, placer mineral and coal rights across the Province. The team consists of 20 people located mostly in Vancouver but also in Prince George, Kamloops and Kimberley. Team members are collaborative and excellent problem solvers who focus on providing excellent service. The Branch has a public facing office in downtown Vancouver where people can come for assistance, to register documents and make payments related to mineral titles. The Branch shares a dynamic workspace with many staff from several Natural Resource ministries. In addition to staff from RMCD, you will have the opportunity to work and engage with staff from across the Government of BC’s Natural Resource Ministries.
The Role
Reporting to the Authorizations Supervisor of Mineral Titles Branch, the Natural Resource Specialist provides guidance to statutory decision makers, clients and to professional staff within the ministry, across government and mining sector on provincial natural resource acts, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes. The position has a provincial scope of responsibility in advising, engaging, and consulting with a broad range of stakeholders and Indigenous Peoples on mining and other resource related decisions and providing guidance for mineral and coal titles administration. The position is accountable for several delegated statutory authorities of the Chief Gold Commissioner under the Mineral Tenure Act, Mineral Tenure Act Regulation, Coal Act, and Coal Act Regulation.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in the natural resource field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience providing information and services to the public.
- Experience in both written and oral communication with a variety of clients/customers in complex situations
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or policies.
- Experience in the Natural Resource sector.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is for two (2) temporary opportunities, one until August 31, 2025 and one until March 31, 2026. These positions may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent opportunities.
