WSP is currently seeking a motivated Land Development Project Manager to join our Langley team. Reporting to the Senior Land Development Planner, this position will complement their existing work force and assist in managing the design, land use planning and approval components of their development projects throughout the Lower Mainland and British Columbia. The successful candidate can expect to be challenged in a variety of tasks undertaken in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. As a key member of the team, you will deal directly with clients and approval agencies.

What you can expect to do here:

• Track, manage and expedite the company’s land development projects through the various land development approval processes and provide timely response to approval comments and concerns. Manage the approval process through initial stages to adoption of rezoning bylaws and final approval of development applications.
• Provide front end land development advisory services to the company’s development industry clients including preparation of feasibility assessments and coordination of development applications.
• Work seamlessly with the project team in the preparation of feasibility studies, servicing assessments and concept plans, development cost estimates and engineering design submissions.
• Understand development approval timelines and be communicative and responsive to Client’s concerns and urgencies relating to their projects.
• Gain an understanding of the various Municipal and Provincial regulations concerning site servicing, transportation, environmental and habitat constraints to development and associated permitting requirements. Assist the project planner in preparation of graphic presentation materials and organization of public information meetings in support of Client’s development applications.
• Understand the role of associated consultants in the development approval process including environmental, arborist and legal survey and provide coordination of their efforts.
• Become knowledgeable in the range of servicing costs, municipal fees and charges that relate to land development approvals.
• Gain an appreciation of the physical and environmental constraints to land development including riparian, ecological, tree retention, site access and site topography.
• Monitor development activity in the business region and conduct business development activities to promote the practice and attract new Clients.
• Attending meetings with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Proposal development.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• An undergraduate degree in engineering, planning, geography, architecture, or a related discipline from an accredited university preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a municipal or consulting environment.
• A keen interest in the land development industry.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information is an asset.
• Highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to upholding our reputation for delivering high quality service; and
• Possess excellent written and oral communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience with various levels of municipal government, construction contractors and developers.
• Knowledge of Lower Mainland land development markets with established local client relationships is an asset.

Compensation

Salary range (in British Columbia): $69,600 – $95,800

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
