Job Summary
The Team
The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS), Langley Outpatient Clinical team is an established, multidisciplinary group of 15 dedicated professionals, including administrative staff, psychiatric social workers, community nurses, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists. They are committed to supporting youth in the justice system, working compassionately to help adolescents overcome challenges and avoid further legal involvement through tailored support and treatment. Collaborating with the Regional Clinical Team, Youth Probation, Crown Council, Court Registries, and other local community agencies, this team brings their high level of expertise and passion to provide excellent clinical services and make a positive impact on the lives of young people and the broader community.
The Role
The Office Assistant provides detail-oriented clerical support, reception, and maintenance functions for the Forensic Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic. Through this support role you will contribute to creating safer communities in the Fraser Valley and supporting youth in building better futures. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
- 1 year administrative support/secretarial experience or equivalent education and training may be considered.
- Experience/training in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheet and other standard computer based applications.
- Current certification of 50 words per minute keyboarding speed.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience in word processing medico-legal documentation.
- Dicta-typing experience.
- Medical Office Assistant and/or Legal Secretarial training and experience using medical, psychiatric and psychological terminology.
- Experience working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Minimum one (1) year administrative experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting.
- Experience using the CARIS client records system.

About this Position:
Amendment(October 29, 2024): Posting closing date extended to November 5, 2024.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There is presently one (1) Permanent Full Time position available in Langley.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Langley and Vancouver.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
