Job Summary

The Team
The Policy and Strategic Initiatives Unit is an established and energetic team where every day brings new challenges and opportunities. You’ll be working alongside a diverse group of partners, from community organizations to government bodies and justice system allies, tackling sensitive and high-impact issues. Together, we strive to support the branch and ministry in meeting strategic goals and to address community safety and provide a comprehensive continuum of services for victims and survivors of crime, making a real difference in British Columbia.

The Role
The Senior Policy Analyst will research and shape policies, programs, and initiatives that address critical issues such as gender-based violence, restorative justice, and support for victims and survivors, including 2SLGBTQIA and Indigenous communities. You’ll manage projects, collaborate across sectors, and provide strategic advice to help create positive, lasting change in BC. This position offers an opportunity to truly make a difference by providing meaningful work in a challenging environment.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in related field (e.g., criminology, law, public policy, public administration, business administration, social sciences, etc.) Plus, three years related experience.
  • 3 years related experience must include:
    • Experience working in a public sector environment leading strategic policy initiatives: either through the development of legislation, regulations and/or broad-scale policies or programs. Leading project working groups/committees with diverse partners (e.g., provincial or municipal governments, community agencies, etc.).
    • Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
    • Experience concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents (e.g., strategies/action plans, briefing notes, cabinet submissions, treasury board submissions).
    • Experience working with executive and providing advice and recommendations.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working with Indigenous partners.
  • Experience managing complex projects, including managing budgets.
  • Experience with the Justice Sector.
  • Experience supporting change management.

About this Position:
This is a 12 month temporary opportunity. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
This position is excluded from union membership.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
