Job Summary

The Ministry of Health has overall responsibility for ensuring that health services meet the needs of all in B.C., through accessible services no matter where you are in the province, and to support timely, high-quality, appropriate, equitable, and cost-effective service delivery.

The Program Assistant role provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial and financial support services for the branch and coordinate the day-to-day priorities of the manager, including providing liaison with ministry executive offices.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 6 months related experience; OR
  • Evergreen and 1-year related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Typing, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) or similar programs.
  • Experience providing administrative support services for a group of staff.

Preference may be given to applicant with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Additional years of related experience
  • Responding to general inquiries in person, via email and phone calls
  • Scheduling events such as meetings, appointments, making travel arrangements
  • Processing financial transactions
  • Experience in records management
  • Self-identify as Indigenous (e.g., First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
