Job Summary

The Team
The Special Authority team is a well-established, diverse group of approximately 44 professionals, including clerks, technicians, analysts, pharmacists, and leadership roles. The team works collaboratively to ensure eligible patients in BC receive the pharmaceutical coverage they need in a timely manner and directly supports the healthcare system by improving patient access to medications and alleviating financial burdens. The dedication and resilience of this team is evident in their commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-focused service.

The Role
As a Special Authority Clerk, you will process patient-specific drug requests, ensuring they meet established criteria and maintaining accurate records. Your work directly impacts patient care by helping BC citizens access necessary medications, alleviating financial burdens, and supporting the province’s healthcare system. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully in a diverse and inclusive team, while gaining valuable experience in both healthcare and administrative support.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (GED), OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience and/or training.
• A minimum one (1) year of related experience and/or training.
Related experience/training includes experience/training in a Windows-based computer environment (i.e., MS Office – Outlook, Word and Excel, MS Teams).
• Experience working in an office setting.
• Experience in keyboarding with a minimum 50 words per minute (WPM).

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Experience using PharmaNet or PNP.
• Pharmacy experience.
• Who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
