The Transformation Leadership Office supports the continuous evolution and improvement of healthcare and business services, ensuring Provincial Health Services Authority remains at the forefront of innovation and quality. We work across Provincial Health Services Authority and provincially on some of the most complex and most impactful challenges. We support leaders and teams to design the healthcare system of the future and then we work alongside them to deliver the change needed to realize this. Recent projects have included:

  • Supporting the delivery of BC Cancer’s 10 Year Action Plan with the goal of reducing the incidence of cancer and improving cancer survival, cure rates and quality of life.
  • Helping PHSA to review current models of care for those with substance use needs and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Working alongside government partners to improve access to Emergency Department care in smaller communities across the province.
  • Supporting the development of systematic and collaborative approaches to service planning within British Columbia.
  • Supporting the organization to address individual and systemic Indigenous specific racism by helping to operationalize anti-Indigenous racism training for all staff and improving the complaints process and our organizational approach to learning from patient experience.

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead complex, cross-organizational initiatives that push boundaries and inspire innovation. You’ll develop and execute project plans, ensuring timelines and budgets are met while remaining agile to adapt to evolving needs. What you’ll do

  • In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of PHSA safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA’s Agencies/Divisions/Services, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. As a Senior Project Manager the successful candidate will lead and coordinate all aspects of high-impact projects that drive real change. From planning to execution, the individual will ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget. Aspects of the role will focus on overseeing project activities, managing financial resources, and guiding cross-functional teams to success.
  • The role will be involved in establishing metrics, tracking progress, and making crucial decisions to keep projects on course. The Senior Project Manager will bring together and lead a diverse project team, offering leadership support and and mentorship to ensure smooth collaboration between staff, contractors, and clients.
  • With expertise in project management and strategic leadership, the individual plays a pivotal role in delivering complex and cross-organizational projects. One will foster partnerships, resolve problems, and empower teams to achieve operational excellence, all while contributing to the future of healthcare at PHSA.
  • Establishes detailed project charter, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables. Executes project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components, facilitates consensus with stakeholders as needed and ensures readiness for project implementation.
  • Tracks project progress according to project plan and identified metrics. Monitors and reports on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Makes decisions and recommendations regarding projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implements or contributes to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies, and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate strategic development and planning initiatives by conducting engagements and workshops to define the long-term vision of organizational units. This role involves conducting comprehensive current state analyses of operations, service delivery and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and feedback that inform strategic direction. In working with internal partner and clients and helping to align initiatives with organizational/programs goals and strategy, this role will mentor and train team members in strategic planning methodologies and best practices. They will also support the creation and refinement of a repository of strategic planning tools, templates, and methodologies to standardize processes and build internal expertise.
  • Leads and supports team members by providing guidance, setting clear goals, and encouraging skill development. Manages resources by assigning team members based on project needs and strengths. Offers coaching to help staff overcome challenges and improve their performance. Takes full responsibility for personnel decisions, including hiring, performance reviews, and addressing performance issues, with a focus on fostering growth and personal development.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related healthcare discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of recent, hands-on experience in project management, strategic initiatives, and leading consultation processes with diverse partner/stakeholder groups.
  • Experienced Professionals with a background in service-oriented industries, healthcare, public sector, government, and corporate transformation, and a PMP or similar certification is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge or experience with quality improvement methodology, change management, and chronic disease management.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage across interdisciplinary teams and effectively collaborate with the physician community.
  • Effective communicators with strong presentation skills, experience working with senior leaders, and excellent facilitation abilities.
  • You lead with humility and are driven by a desire to make a difference.
  • You never settle for complacency and are always eager to learn and adapt.
  • Resilience and Agility: Ability to navigate complex environments with flexibility and ease, resilience and agility focused on always finding solutions to the toughest challenges.

  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range: $106,026 – $152,413 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
