Manager, Food Service Operation

Vancouver Island University is hiring a full-time Manager to join our team in Food Services at Vancouver Island University.

In this role, you will report to the Director Ancillary Services and work with Food Service Supervisors, Leads Coordinators, and Staff to oversee the day-to-day operation(s) of two cafeterias and catering at the Nanaimo Campus. As the Manager Food Services Operations you will be responsible for providing leadership to the Food Services Team while engaging in strategic planning, organizing, directing, controlling expenses, and the ongoing evaluation of operations.

The Manager will also work closely with Culinary Arts, Professional Baking, and Hospitality Management to provide food services to the campus community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Business Administration, Commerce, Management or Hospitality. 
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible operational experience, including management of employees. 
  • A combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Current Food Safe Certification
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license with a confirmed satisfactory driving record
Salary Information:

Normal salary placement at the time of hire is $96,295 (prorated if part-time). This position is eligible for annual performance-based salary increases.
