Job Summary

The Team
The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of the Child and Youth Mental Health Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach, and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families, and communities. The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre works with children and youth in British Columbia with enduing and severe mental health and behavioural difficulties, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature.

The Role
As the Nurse 9, Program Coordinator, you will provide an effective on-site or community assessment, treatment and follow-up program for children and youth with severe and enduring mental health and/or behaviour needs from all areas of the Province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing and Licensed to practice nursing under the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of extensive experience working within the mental health, or substance use, service delivery system.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience leading and supervising a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Successful completion of any post-graduate development courses related to the treatment of adolescents with mental illness or problems of conduct.
  • Extensive on-site care experience in a mental health setting.
  • Progressive experience in various social services such as child protection, services for community living, youth justice and community mental health services.
    Leadership, supervisory/ management training.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
There is one (1) full time temporary position available.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to two days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be performed in following location: Coquitlam.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
