About the Opportunity

Lorval Capital Management is looking for a full-time Senior Human Resources Advisor based in Langley, B.C.

Reporting directly to the Director, Human Resources, this role is responsible for providing guidance and knowledge in all areas of the People Practice including recruitment, employee relations, HRIS management, and compliance. It is responsible for supporting the company’s HR functions across multiple operating companies, and acting as a key point of contact.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with hiring managers to conduct job analyses and define job requirements
  • Managing employee records and ensuring compliance with data protection laws in the HRIS system
  • Acting as the subject matter expert on HRIS, responsible for creating and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all HR processes
  • Leading labor relations in both union and non-union environments, including managing grievances and disciplinary actions
  • Offering guidance on performance improvement plans, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution
  • Preparing Human Resources documentation and assisting in the development and communication of HR policies and procedures
  • Coordinating performance reviews, annual compensation processes, and succession planning
  • Monitoring and analyzing HR metrics to improve processes and efficiency
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of employee recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and team-building activities
  • Ensuring compliance with HR laws and employment standards across BC, AB, and Federal jurisdictions
  • Leading internal audits and investigations to ensure alignment with legal requirements and company policies
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of Best in Class policies, processes and systems

About You

To qualify, you will need a diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a CPHR certification in good standing. A minimum of 8 years’ experience as an HR Generalist or Advisor ideally within the manufacturing, production, or construction industries, along with at least 3 years of union experience (including negotiations, grievances, and bargaining), will also be essential. 

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience implementing HRIS systems and managing complex HR programs
  • Experience with policy development 
  • Senior-level understanding of payroll laws and obligations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
