Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security & CISO, the Manager, Cyber Threat Defence will oversee and coordinate the activities of our cyber defence capabilities, otherwise known as the security operations team or cyber security incident response team – CSIRT. This motivated individual will ensure the protection of our organization’s digital assets and information. You will lead and mentor a team of cyber security professionals, develop and implement cyber security strategies, and collaborate with various departments to ensure a robust cyber security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Foster the 3 lines of defense model for risk management and act as a 2nd line of defense facilitator regularly interacting with the 1st line
  • Organize all cyber incident response plan and pre-incident readiness activities within the Cyber Security team, including incident command in tense situations. Collaborate with third-party providers and the team to ensure timely responses
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security strategies, standards, procedures and programmable code to keep Teck safe from cyber threats, including the transition to a programmable security stack
  • Mentor staff toward greater levels of efficiency and effectiveness through programmable automation and rigorous testing
  • Maintain relationships with third-party security service providers, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and performance requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance security operations capabilities
  • Ensure timely and effective response to security incidents and conduct thorough post-incident analyses
  • Facilitate the security operations strategy, including managing budgets and keeping updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies for integration
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the state of Teck’s security posture and initiatives

Qualifications

  • 10 years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating security operations and leading security teams
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security strategies and policies alongside coordinating with third-party service providers
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or similar. Additional relevant certifications are a plus
  • Expertise in security operations, covering areas such as threat intelligence, detection, response, and offensive security strategies
  • A driven, responsible leader with the ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven capability to tackle security problems and automate solutions using programming languages, development tools, and system development lifecycles
  • Skilled in communicating technical concepts in clear, concise language for non-technical partners
  • Proficiency in using security operations tools and platforms with the ability to standardize process through review

Salary Range: $144,00 – $178,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
