As the Biostatistics & Data Linkage Leader, you will provide leadership in healthcare analytics. You will participate in cross divisional quality improvement projects and provide ongoing program evaluation and support. You will use your advanced epidemiological skills and business intelligence to help guide the team towards excellence. This position will undertake self-directed and collaborative analyses, interpretation and reporting of designated program related data for both internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll do

  • Provide statistical and data linkage consultation primarily to the Programs through leadership in data linkage and participation in cross-divisional projects.
  • Lead and collaborate in planning, implementation, analysis and interpretation of studies focusing on the patient population of rare diseases, including for example, evaluation of current treatment options, and accessibility to treatment.
  • Collaborate in centre wide initiatives to link data, design and carry out studies that address questions related to the PSP mandate, such as information on the applicable patient population, effectiveness and safety or programs or interventions, and related issues. Provide training on various aspects of applied biostatistics to professionals within the Programs and external partners.
  • Link clinical and administrative databases and develops complex databases and data analysis programs; manage data entry and verification, editing and applications of data quality assurance procedures. Develop SAS user-friendly applications, as necessary; create and manipulate datasets using SAS and SPLUS software or equivalent.
  • Generate statistical models and mathematical simulation of research data for introducing new statistical methodologies and study designs; analyzes data to provide statistical reports and process validation; perform statistical analysis on dynamic study data.
  • Provide information and support to health policy and quality assurance decision makers, including health care cost estimates and best practices for improving health outcomes of specific populations; communicates statistical results to PSP personnel and external partners.
  • Respond to consulting requests requiring mathematical/statistical input/procedures. Provide statistical contributions to data mining operations, and algorithm development. Prepare statistical methodology sections for research protocol development.
  • Work in close collaboration with clinical researchers and other specialists.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in statistics/biostatistics plus five (5) years of recent related experience including progressive increases in responsibilities for complex data linkage, data management and analysis.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Requires advanced knowledge of medical content and a strong background in large complex data base analysis.
  • Fluent in statistical packages such as: SAS/SPLUS or equivalent. Mastery of Programming such as: macros, datastep and PROC SQL and applicable software.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Works in a self-directed manner, requests feedback as required and manages multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range: $88,990 – $127,923/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
