Position Summary

Reporting to the Regional Director, Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S), the R e g i o n a l Manager, Disability Management is responsible for aligning W H & S services within Northern Health’s strategic and operational plans. Meeting the goals of a customer responsive service, the Manager will collaborate with leadership groups of client portfolios to ensure that the service and business issues are understood, supported and sustainable. The R e g i o n a l Manager leads the d e v e l o p m e n t , i m p l e m e n ta t i o n and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety policy, programs and services to minimize the potential for occupational illness and injury, increase employee wellness, and improve quality of life. The Regional Manager is responsible and accountable for WH&S practices and regulatory compliance. The incumbent is also responsible for contributing to the development of broader human resource policy and direction. The Regional Manager engages in ongoing contact with a variety of external agencies such as WorksafeBC, HEABC, HBT, unions, Health Canada, and education institutions to lobby for funding to support health and safety initiatives, influence partnerships between the agencies and other health authorities that support best practices, and to negotiate for the provision of services. The Regional Manager also develops relationships with colleagues in private and public sector organizations to monitor workplace health trends and developments and fosters the sharing of best practices. The Regional Manager will explore external business opportunities which will enhance healthcare within BC and potentially generate revenues to offset costs. The Regional Manager provides leadership to a team of workplace health and safety professionals that motivate team members to make decisions, accomplish their roles, and assume new challenges.

Starting salary will be approximately from $106,026 to $132,533 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of seven (7) years’ recent, related experience in progressively more complex management/leadership roles in a large multi-union environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Ability to promote and develop opportunities for research and evaluation to ensure evidence based best practices in relation to employee and workplace health and safety and employee well-being.
• Ability to apply superior conflict management skills and judgment to facilitate consensus, persuade/negotiate effectively, and to implement service/organizational change and transition both internally and externally to the organization.
• Ability to identify emerging initiatives, trends and industry best practices and ensure full consideration in the development and implementation of service delivery goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of contemporary and best practice approaches in injury prevention and occupational health and wellness.
• Above average conceptual, analytical, and reasoning skills.
