Job Summary

The Team
At the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) Oversight Unit, you’ll join a dedicated and established team committed to ensuring accessible and compliant MAiD services across the province. Our diverse team includes a Director, Manager, senior policy analyst, policy analysts, and administrative assistants, all working collaboratively to uphold the integrity and fairness of the MAiD process. The Role
In this role, you’ll lead and manage the MAiD Oversight Unit, guiding a dedicated team through the complexities of providing safe and legal access to MAiD services. Your responsibilities will include overseeing team operations, reviewing case files, and ensuring all actions comply with federal and provincial regulations. This position offers the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the healthcare system, develop impactful policy recommendations, and collaborate with a community focused on patient-centered care. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business/public administration or health sciences, social sciences, nursing, medicine or related field plus 2 years related experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in business/public administration or health sciences, social sciences, nursing, medicine or related field plus 4 years related experience OR
  • Diploma in business/public administration or health sciences, social sciences, nursing, medicine or related field plus 6 years related experience OR
  • No degree and a minimum of 8 years related experience

Related experience must include:

  • Experience managing multiple policy and/or program projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and leading meetings and consultations.
  • Experience in directing the work for other project managers, professional employees, and/or consultants.
  • Experience supervising employees.

Preference may be applied to candidates with:

  • Experience managing casework and implementing policy in a complex regulatory environment.
  • Experience leading program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Experience doing partner consultations.
  • Living experience working with Indigenous communities and people.

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
