Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Asset Integrity, the Chief Power Engineer & NDT Program Supervisor is accountable for supporting HVC Operations by monitoring the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all boilers, pressure vessels, refrigeration, and pressure piping work throughout HVC Operations, as well as maintaining the compliance of such equipment.

In addition, our successful candidate will oversee the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Program and is accountable for overseeing non-destructive testing and predictive maintenance methods at all Teck HVC Operations facilities and making recommendations to all levels of HVC Operations management based on results of test work.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Monitor preventative maintenance and logbooks on boilers, ensuring they are maintained according to code and receive relevant inspections
  • Monitor and arrange for departments to maintain pressure reducing valves on pressure vessels and compressors
  • Inspect the steam boilers and pressure vessels at regular intervals for condition monitoring
  • Coordinate and facilitate the training of operations personnel to maintain 5th Class shift engineers at site
  • Arrange for the non-destructive testing and inspection of all pressure vessels, boilers, lifting devices, and cranes on site, assigning work to correct deficiencies according to code
  • Monitor and arrange for departments to maintain lifting devices
  • Coordinate the additions, replacement and repairs of lifting devices with Engineering on site and/or a third party.

Qualifications:

  • Valid 4th Class Power Engineering Certification or higher
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following qualifications:
    • Qualified to CGSB 48.9712 Level 2 UT (Ultrasonic).
    • Qualified to CGSB 48.9712 Level 2 MT (Magnetic Particle).
    • Qualified to CGSB 48.9712 Level 2 PT (Liquid Penetrant).
    • Qualified to the requirements of CSA Standard W178.2 (Weld Inspection).
    • Experience and qualifications in infrared thermography.
    • Experience and qualifications in positive material identification.
  • 3-5 years’ previous experience in non-destructive testing.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license

Salary Range: $105,000 – $129,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
