Position Summary

Reporting to the VP Professional Practice CN&AHE, the Regional Director, Allied Health Clinical Education & Professional Practice (the Regional Director) works in partnership with key leadership partners to support the delivery of quality practice environments by providing leadership, professional practice programs and services, and expert advice regarding legislative scopes of practice, regulatory practice standards, controls on practice, professional competencies, clinical excellence and best practice; optimizing scopes of practice; practice change leadership; fostering inter-professional collaboration; and supporting excellence in patient/staff experience. The Regional Director is responsible for developing and recommending the strategic advancement of Allied Health professional roles, providing discipline-specific perspectives in decision-making forums across the organization. The Regional Director represents the portfolio in providing leadership and expert advice to various internal, multi-health authority and provincial working groups and allied health initiatives including resource planning and research, clinical education, professional practice and creating conditions for quality practice and learning environments.

Starting salary will be approximately from $128,298 to $160,372 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Master’s degree in a related healthcare discipline plus seven (7) to ten (10) years of recent, related experience in a complex healthcare environment, including at least three (3) years of progressively senior leadership experience; or equivalent combination of recent related education, training, and experience. Current practicing registration in a related allied health profession with an applicable regulatory body/association.

Skills and Abilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of health profession regulatory framework and bodies including the Health Professions and Occupations Act.
• Knowledge and understanding of allied health legislation, statutes, regulations and professional standards of practice.
• Ability to foster collaborative and effective working relationships to support professional practice, clinical education and ongoing development of staff and to contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
• Understanding of the functioning and role of Service networks as related to allied health professions.
• Expert knowledge of health care structures and program delivery, specifically provider practice, workload, quality, scope of practice and skill mix.
• Clear understanding of the accreditation processes and professional specific codes of ethics.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and write proposals, projects and research documents.
• Ability to create and promote development of research opportunities to ensure evidence based and evidence informed practice within an interprofessional team based environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of current thinking related to practice, leadership, care, and service delivery.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project management and change leadership methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills in a complex public sector environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to facilitate and negotiate.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff, colleagues, partners, strategic partners, and solution providers.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
• A valid BC Driver’s License.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
