Job Summary

The Team
Join our People and Workplace Solutions Branch within the Ministry of Education and Child Care, where we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. As part of our supportive and passionate team, you will oversee a team of two Band 2 Managers and one Band 1 HR Analyst, collaborating closely with our Executive Director/CHRO, peer HR Directors and leaders from across the Ministry and BCPS. The Role
As a Director of Human Resources, you’ll lead our Ministry’s HR Analytics functions, Workforce Planning, and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) strategy. Your work will significantly impact the leaders and employees of the Ministry by delivering vital human resources services and programs. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in human resources, public administration, business administration or a related field plus a minimum of three (3) years in each of the related experience statements below; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.

Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience providing advice and support to executive level clients on complex human resource matters.
  • Experience supervising a team of professional employees, including planning and directing their work, managing performance, resolving conflict, mentoring and coaching.
  • Experience in project management processes, leading the development and implementation of corporate or ministry specific projects and/or programs.
  • Experience in managing sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy and sound judgment.
  • Experience developing and presenting information and plans for decision to an executive audience.
  • Experience developing workforce plans.
  • Experience collaborating with HR, leadership, and various teams to integrate REDI principles into recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training and other programs and processes.
  • Experience developing collaborative relationships with clients, key HR partners and senior leadership.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • The above experience gained in a BC public sector environment.
