Job Summary

The Team
The People and Workplace Solutions team supports human resource (HR) functions for the Ministry of Education and Child Care. The HR Coordinator is a part of an established and collaborative group of 20 professionals, including three HR Coordinators, who are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace. Our team is passionate about providing HR services and driving key efforts in recruitment, workforce planning, and various HR programs and initiatives.

The Role
In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative support to the HR Manager and Planner throughout the recruitment process, including screening candidates, scheduling assessments and interviews, conducting reference checks, and other key tasks that support this priority work and your team. You will be responsible for maintaining organized competition files and HR trackers to ensure compliance with BC Public Service and Merit Commissioner policies. The Coordinator also supports the delivery of key initiatives such as public service week and other corporate events. This is an excellent opportunity to start your HR career, working closely with a supportive team dedicated to helping you gain valuable experience and develop new skills in a dynamic environment. Your work will directly contribute to a smooth and efficient HR process, benefiting both the ministry and the citizens it serves.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
  • Working ina professional office environment in an administrative role
  • Prioritizing workloads and delivering results in a high-volume environment with strict deadlines
  • UsingMicrosoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).A combination of experience gained in a professional workplace, volunteer, or academic setting may be considered for this requirement.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Completion ofpost-secondary courses in office or business administration
  • Experienceworking in a human resources role or environment
  • Experience supporting theadministration of the public service recruitment process
  • Additional years of experience in any of the above experience requirements and/or preferences

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until December 27, 2024.
This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
