The Lead, Talent Acquisition, reports to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, and is responsible for the day-to-day activities of Advisors(s), Associate(s) and/or the Representative(s) by providing supervision, coaching and performance feedback. The Lead provides professional expertise and guidance by maintaining current knowledge of contracts and/or collective agreement interpretations, internal HR processes and by assuming the role of coordinator when changes affect current processes and/or best practices.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee the day to day activities of the Assistant(s), Associate(s), and/or Representative(s) by supervising, coaching and managing performance of designated staff, coordinating and scheduling work and ensuring policies, procedures and processes are carried out in alignment with the department and PHSA’s goals, policies and vision. Provides guidance, support and advice; determines training needs and provides/coordinates related orientation and training; hires staff and initiates terminations as required.
  • Provide leadership and direction to designated team members using effective leadership techniques such as skills and leadership development, performance management, coaching, mentoring and mentoring, fostering a respectful and motivating environment where individual competencies can thrive.
  • Lead an assigned recruitment portfolio providing guidance and advice to hiring leaders and senior leadership working closely as a business partner through methods such as developing marketing strategies, identifying a candidate pool, prescreening candidates, development of interview questions, participating on interview panels, referencing candidates and providing recommendations regarding salary placement. Keeps abreast of all current and future vacancies for portfolio including workforce/succession planning and works with leaders/managers/directors to identify their short and long-term recruitment needs, developing innovative external recruitment strategies, advises, on best practices, and developing and implementing strategic recruitment plan. Oversees continuous process improvement and transformation change initiatives for portfolio.
  • Oversee various recruitment related programs, campaigns and special projects such as planning, preparing for and attending local, provincial, national and international conferences and recruitment fair
  • Source candidates from various academic institutions by creating and maintaining relationships with Instructors and Practice Leads and meeting directly with new graduates to promote PHSA.
  • Research and recommends advertising strategies for hiring department and develops proposals for new and creative avenues for advertising that maximizes use of the organization’s website and other web-based tools. Evaluates cost-effectiveness of advertising strategies and provides return-on-investment analysis.
  • Liaise with representatives from academic institutions, professional associations, recruitment agencies and other organizations to build positive relationships and maintain sources of qualified applicants.

What you bring

Qualifications:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field supplemented by seven (7) years of experience including a minimum of three (3) years of talent acquisition experience, including one (1) year at a supervisory level.

  • Solid understanding of best practice recruitment process and solutions related human rights legislation, and applicable collective agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and influence others to achieve resolution/
  • Ability to supervise and lead staff, establishing results-oriented courses of action for self and others, with prioritization of workload to meet deadlines.
  • Facilitates team effectiveness and team members’ professional development, with demonstration of a high value for continuous learning.
  • Ability to problem-solve with a broad perspective in order to incorporate the organizations’ systems when developing viable solutions to problems.
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to use related equipment including HR information systems, word processing, spreadsheet, database and internet tools.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range: $88,990 -$127,923/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

Location: Flexible Work Location (within BC)
