The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. Corporate Operations at the BCLDB includes our Corporate Loss Prevention, Construction and Facilities and Leasing departments. The Construction and Facilities department manages all activities related to the construction, renovation, and facilities management of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centres, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Leasing department manages all activities related to leasing of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centres, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Corporate Loss Prevention department ensures the security of all BCLDB assets through physical security management as well as an investigative team.

About this role:

The Merchandise and Dry Goods Coordinator assists the Facilities Manager in maintaining the inventory control of shelving, fixtures, equipment and dry goods and marketing material in approximately 198 government liquor stores and 39 cannabis stores located throughout the province of BC. This includes the shipping and receiving of all dry good items (including but not limited to store shelving, fixtures, equipment, computers, material handling equipment, fax machines, cash registers, merchandising articles, forms, etc.) by receiving, checking, assembling, distributing and tracking.

Reporting to the Assistant Supervisor, Merchandise and Dry Goods, the Coordinator is responsible for receiving, kitting, packaging, assembling, and shipping of monthly in-store marketing material including flyers and other in-store marketing materials, i.e., décor. The position plans, develops and maintains a complex shipping, delivery and receiving system for approximately 80-120 items per store per month.

The Coordinator is responsible for the receipt of all promotional material and contacts suppliers when material is not received. Judgement must be used to resolve issues associated with meeting the delivery deadlines. (i.e., makes arrangements with couriers and adjust schedules as required). Escalation to the Supervisor is required when material has been undelivered, is damaged or will be delayed.

The Coordinator undertakes functions in receiving, replenishment and shipping of dry goods and marketing material to approximately 237 retail stores and Head Office. The Coordinator is also required to operate mobile equipment relating to warehouse operations such as forklifts, pallet movers, double reach forklifts as well as removal and disposal of store assets and fixtures upon store closures.

A criminal record check is required.

Working conditions are as follows:

  • Work takes place in a warehouse environment.
  • Lifting, pushing and pulling up to 45 lbs. frequently and on occasion more weight with the help of others and/or equipment. This position uses a forklift to load and unload trailers.
  • Travel throughout the province may be required.
  • From time to time, work may be required in cold or hot seasonal environments (winter/summer trailer loading/unloading).
  • Ability to assemble/takedown, package, and receive/ship all fixture types at any retail location when needed.
  • Safety footwear required, i.e., steel-toed boots.
  • The use of hand tools, electric tools, forklift, electric pallet mover, computers, point of sale registers, fax machines, balers, computer hardware and computer software applications is required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate and a minimum of two (2) years recent, related experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in a distribution/warehouse environment.
  • Mobile Equipment Certification required on stand-up forklift, sit down forklift, ride-on pallet mover, “walkie” pallet mover.

Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years and include the following:

  • Experience in administrative and coordination tasks, working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience using standard computer applications (e.g., MS Office and MS Outlook).

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience in the beverage alcohol industry/supply chain, or a large retail environment.
