Job Summary

The Team
The BC Timber Sales (BCTS) FTELP Leadership Team provides guidance and support to the Forest Technologist Entry Level Program (FTELP) , which is dedicated to growing the next generation of Registered Forest Technologists and Registered Professional Foresters. Based in Mackenzie, BC , this established team has been nurturing forestry professionals since 2016. The FTELP Leadership team is a vibrant group of six, managing 12 direct reports and collaborating with various experts across the ministry to deliver an unparalleled experiential learning program. The team offers a unique opportunity to work in an environment that values innovation, community, and a balanced lifestyle.

The Role
This dynamic role is at the heart of the FTELP. With the help of forestry operations and training specialists, you’ll guide trainee forest technologists and foresters in training, ensuring they gain the essential skills and experience required to obtain their professional forestry designations. Your efforts will empower FTELP staff by providing rich, hands-on learning experiences and helping BCTS Business Areas achieve their objectives. Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • Applicant must be registered with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist.
  • Experience related to the planning and development of Timber Sale Licences, as well as experience in one or more of the following disciplines: silviculture, timber harvesting, and engineering.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience organizing and managing complex concurrent initiatives.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.

Preference Statements

  • Experience in coaching.
  • Experience in operational forestry or field work.
