The Provincial Pharmacy Compassionate Access Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Compassionate Access Program (CAP) in Provincial Systemic Therapy. Responsibilities include reviewing submitted requests from physicians and hospitals across the province, triaging decisions, chairing group meetings, and being responsible for ongoing assessment of guiding principles, decision tools and financial objectives.
What you’ll do
- Review and triage all requests as submitted to the web-based BCCA Compassionate Access Program (CAP) by physicians and hospitals across the province delivering oncology drug treatment. This process may include verification of clinical information submitted, solicitation of additional clinical information required for decision-making, review of literature to provide treatment information not included in the submission and triaging requests for approval.
- Act on behalf of the Provincial Systemic Therapy Program (PSTP) to adjudicate requests for which there are clear clinical guidelines in place that dictate consistent decision making.
- Summarize clinical information and precedents for Tumour Group delegates and/or PSTP delegate for scientific evidence review, financial approvals and comment.
- Prepare and deliver response documentation to the requestor on behalf of the PSTP.
- With the approval of the Medical Leader, coordinate all aspects of CAP including chairing monthly CAP meetings, conducting ongoing quality assessment of the guiding principles, decision tools, BCCA benefit list status, and management of requests for reconsideration of decisions.
- Maintain key performance measurements and advise supervisors of existing or potential challenges to the Program mandate.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with current registration as a Licensed Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program and three (3) years of recent related experience, including experience in oncology and/or hematology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge and competency in critical review of medical/paramedical literature.
- Demonstrated skills in CPR techniques.

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until February 28, 2025)
Wage: $51.37 – 64.19 per hour.
