Job Summary
The Team
The Indigenous Relations Team (IRT) in the Southern Interior Region is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities through MOTI projects and reconciliation initiatives. This established team of 14, known for its collaborative, humorous, and caring atmosphere, works closely with senior advisors, project coordinators, and directors. Together, they play an essential role in building respectful partnerships that support lasting, positive change across the region.
The Role
The Sr. Manager, Indigenous Relations is a high-energy, fast-paced role, you’ll work to support meaningful reconciliation efforts, contributing to a positive future for BC. Your work will have a lasting impact by helping to build respectful relationships that honor and collaborate with Indigenous communities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area (such as: Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences, Natural Resources, Political Sciences, Communications or Business) and three (3) years of related experience; OR
- A Diploma in a relevant area (such as: Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences, Natural Resources, Political Sciences, Communications or Business) and five (5) years of related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Must have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
Related Experience must include all of the following:
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a highly intense working environment
- Experience leading complex multi-party negotiations in a cross-cultural setting
- Experience related to First Nations Consultation and relationship building.
- Experience leading and resolving complex issues with Indigenous Communities and staff.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience providing strategic Indigenous relations advice to Ministry Executive, senior government officials (or private sector equivalent) on projects/negotiations status.
- Experience dealing with politically sensitive and provincially significant issues
- Experience in a management capacity including strategic and operational business and organizational planning and financial management.
- Experience working with highways management or the Ministry of Transportation.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week upon completion of probationary period and subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
