Job Summary

The Team
The Resource team supports existing family care homes, recruits new caregivers, and manages contracted homes transitioning to the Specialized Housing and Support Services framework between Prince George and Quesnel. The Out-of-Care team, a newer addition, focuses on supporting out-of-care caregivers in Prince George, with both teams playing a vital role in providing safe, skilled, and supported environments for children, youth, and families within the Service Delivery Area.

The Role
The Director of Operations in the Northern Service Delivery Area is responsible for managing and coordinating resources to support children, youth, and families through a comprehensive care network. The Director of Operations role involves strategic planning, recruitment of contracted homes and caregivers, and leading quality improvement initiatives, while fostering collaboration with community partners to enhance integrated care and ensure culturally responsive services.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or Masters in Clinical Psychology, Educational Counselling Psychology, or Social Work, or equivalent.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must request a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report to be considered for this competition.
  • Four (4) years or more experience in a supervisory and/or management position, including supervising a team of five or more.
  • Experience in managing relationships with contracted agencies and partners .
  • Experience in program and service delivery planning and evaluation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 Driver’s licence.
    • NOTE: if you currently have a valid BC (full) class 5 driver’s licence in Canada and if you are the successful applicant you must acquire a valid class 5 BC driver’s licence immediately.

Preference may be given to applicants with one more of the following:

  • Experience working with Foster Caregivers, including Family Care Homes and Contracted Residential Agencies
  • At least six (6) months or more experience acting as a Director.

Willingness Statements:

  • May be required to work evenings/weekends.
  • Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.
  • May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically for provincial meetings.
