What you will do
As an Associate Vice President, you are responsible for the execution of the file and reporting to the Senior Vice Presidents and Managing Directors.
- Oversee the preparation of market and industry research, detailed financial analysis, and business valuations.
- Lead the drafting of pitch books, teasers, confidential information memorandums (CIM) and other M&A deliverables.
- Contribute to the day-to-day implementation and delivery of service on a range of corporate finance projects.
- Contribute to the identification of potential acquisition targets, purchasers and/or investors.
- Assess the business environment and key drivers specific to the company and its sector.
- Prepare and review financial models.
- Guide, mentor, and train Associates and Analysts.
- Undertake engagement and practice overseeing responsibilities, including billings and adherence to professional practice requirements.
- Lead proactive business development and deal initiation activities.
As a member of a high performing team working in a fast-paced deal environment, there will be times where you will be required to work beyond a normal workday or work week to fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Likewise, we recognize and support that there may be times where you need to devote extra time during work hours to personal matters. Our approach is flexible and accommodative.
What you bring to the role
- CPA (or equivalent) and/or CFA designation desired.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, corporate finance, corporate development, private equity, venture capital or similar M&A-focused roles.
- Specific professional experience in writing sell-side CIMs or buy-side reports; financial modeling for M&A transactions; and managing diligence, where on the sell- or buy-side.
- Demonstrated excellent track record of project initiation/execution in an adaptable professional setting
- Excellent technical finance proficiency, including knowledge of financial statements and general accounting ethics
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and other financial analysis and research instruments (CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, Pitchbook, Refinitiv, Factiva, IBIS World, Statista, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience or ability in training and mentorship.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Fundamental interest in business, the capital markets, and/or the broader M&A and Corporate Finance environment both locally, nationally and internationally; and
- You value face-to-face interactions and the synergy that comes from being present with colleagues and are committed to working collaboratively in an office environment at least 4 days per week.
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $76,000 to $127,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
