The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Project Engineer or Project Technologist to join us in our growing Victoria Uptown office. This position will involve working on projects for a variety of public and private clients, including land development projects for residential and commercial, municipal water, wastewater, drainage, and roadway infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, and construction services. As a key member of a supportive and knowledgeable team, you will be given the opportunity to work directly with clients and approval agencies. This is an in-office position based out of Victoria, British Columbia and, while we welcome applicants from across Canada, successful candidates will be expected to be located within the southern Vancouver Island region.

A day in the life:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions in a professional and ethical manner;
  • Work on a variety of project components including road works, sanitary and storm systems, water distribution systems, storm water management, and lift stations;
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details for design, preparing specifications and contract documents, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets;
  • Develop stormwater management plans and undertake modelling;
  • Maintain project budgets; and
  • Field review, contract administration and resolving construction issues.

What you will bring to WSP:

  • 1-4 years career experience working in the industry is preferred, with relevant co-op or post-graduation work experience outlined on your resume;
  • EIT working toward P.Eng. designation, or technologist-in-training working toward AScT designation in BC;
  • Experience with engineering of roads, water, sanitary and drainage systems, particularly on Vancouver Island;
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software and MMCD documents;
  • Experience in construction services including tender preparation, contract administration, and field review;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines both independently and part of a project team;
  • Strong focus on managing multiple projects with a solid commitment to exceptional client service on an ongoing basis.

Compensation

Expected Salary (British Columbia) For a Project Engineer: $69,600 – $95,800

Expected Salary (British Columbia) For a Project Technologist: $60,000 – $82,600
