POSITION SUMMARY

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Hansard Services department is seeking two professional, eager, and detail-oriented individuals for the auxiliary as-and-when position of Editor.

Working within tight deadlines, the Editor implements Hansard editorial and procedural guidelines and conducts research using in-house resources and support, ensuring all transcripts meet Hansards editorial, research, and procedural quality standards. In addition, the Editor participates in departmental projects, mentors colleagues and supports Editorial Team Leaders.

Editors work a fluctuating schedule. When the House is in session, typically from February to June and October to December, Editors generally work shifts with work hours falling between 10:00am and 8:00pm, Mondays through Thursdays. Additional work may be available on an as-needed basis for sessional Fridays and during months when the House is not in session. For more information about the sessional schedule, please view the parliamentary calendar on our website https://www.leg.bc.ca/parliamentary-business/parliamentary-calendar .
