Job Summary

The Team

The Thompson Okanagan Water Allocation Team is a diverse group of technical experts dedicated to making informed and sustainable water management decisions. Operating across the Thompson Okanagan region with teams in Merritt, Kamloops, Vernon, and Penticton, this established team works under the guidance of the Water Allocation Section Head. Each team includes a Senior Water Authorizations Specialist and several Water Authorization Specialists, all committed to providing sound advice and decisions on water resource allocation. Their collaborative efforts not only support effective provincial water management but also emphasize engagement with various stakeholders, including First Nations, as they work toward reconciliation and sustainable practices.

Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the natural resource field or equivalent PLUS 2 years of related experience working in natural resource management, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Experience:
• Experience in negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management.
• Experience working with and applying resource management processes.
• Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
• Recent (within the last 5 years) experience in BC with water allocation.
• Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.
• Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes (i.e. Water Sustainability Act ) that support natural resource management relating to water allocation and management.
• Direct experience and/or education in hydrogeology and/or hydrology.
