Job Summary

The Team
Our administrative team is a dedicated group of professionals committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children, youth, and families in our communities. Comprised of multiple social workers, a social worker assistant, and team assistants, this established team works collaboratively to provide services that are accessible, inclusive, and culturally respectful. Working closely with various roles across the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), team members bring creativity and dedication to their work, ensuring that they meet the diverse needs of those they serve.

The Role
This role focuses on providing day-to-day program support within the social services office in Penticton.. Reporting to an Office Manager, the position involves answering phones, responding to emails, processing and preparing documents for submission and providing general information to the community that we serve. This role allows you to use your strong administrative skills while working in a diverse, supportive environment. You’ll build lasting relationships with your colleagues and the community served, all while being part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • One year of administrative support experience in an office environment.
  • Six months experience working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases. (For example: Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel, Outlook, Lync) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email and video teleconferencing; and case management or other database applications.
  • Six months experience providing quality customer or client service, carrying out duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner.
  • Six months experience working independently and as a team member with a multi-disciplinary environment and with other professional staff, client, and service providers.
  • Keyboarding with speed and accuracy at approximately 40 – 50 words per minute.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Administrative experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting.
  • Experience using applications: Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer applications.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

PROVISOS

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  • May exposed to unpleasant dealings in emotionally charged situations.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 1 day a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
