Job Summary

The Team
The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General is responsible for ensuring the security and economic viability of British Columbia’s communities through effective policing, corrections, liquor control, gaming, protective and regulatory programs. The Policing and Security Branch develops and administers policing policy, regulates the private security industry, and operates other protective programs.

Within the Policing and Security Branch, the Security Programs Division (SPD) provides statutorily governed public safety programs such as the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) and the Security Services Act (SSA) Program, and non statutorily-governed programs such as the Protection Order Registry (POR). As a Client Service Agent, you will be part of a client services team that provides timely and efficient support to British Columbians who may be applying for security licences, seeking criminal record checks, requesting information about security programs, and looking to access other programs under SPD’s portfolio.

The client services teams are an essential cornerstone of SPD and contribute to the public safety of our province in all the work they do. They are made up of 15 agents, 2 supervisors, and 1 team lead on the Security Services team and 18 agents, 2 supervisors, and 1 team lead on the Security Screening team. Client Service Agents work closely with one another on a day-to-day basis, as well as their supervisors, team lead, and manager. These teams are busy, engaged, fun, and offer a lot of opportunity for learning and growth within SPD and the larger public service.

The Role
As a Client Service Agent on either the Security Screening or Security Services team, you’ll play a vital part in processing a variety of applications, including security licence applications, criminal record checks, protection orders, and payments. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with people through customer service, providing friendly support via email and telephone. Whether you’re assisting government staff, licensing applicants, or members of the public, your warm and helpful demeanor will make a positive impact on everyone you interact with. We’re looking for someone who is not just detail-oriented but also enjoys fostering relationships and helping others navigate their inquiries.
