About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch Wholesale Operations division is the hub of beverage alcohol distribution in British Columbia. There are three business units Wholesale Supply Chain, Pricing & Imports, and Distribution, working in partnership with suppliers to maintain a resilient and responsive supply chain whilst focusing on exceeding our customers’ expectations, and giving back to the communities, we serve. Our stakeholders comprise approximately 1200 agents & suppliers, over 800 retail outlets and 9000 licensed establishments. About this role:

Reporting to the Director Wholesale Supply Chain, the Senior Manager of Integrated E-Commerce Marketing and Communications is responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies to drive sales, provide product knowledge and be a resource for liquor supplier/agent associated promotions and events. Through a cohesive integration of online, print and e-marketing initiatives, this position aims to harmonize communication across diverse media channels. Simultaneously, this role is responsible for building and implementing a communication plan to ensure that the business unit communications are supported and are accessible to both internal and external stakeholders and team members. The position will be responsible for overseeing and improving the current Liquor Wholesale Website, improving customer experience, providing relevant information, and ensuring the site is easy to navigate. Developing strategies for the new e-commerce platform, oversee site content and will be responsible for optimizing the user experience by leveraging analytical tools and insights as well as industry trends and be an industry resource for product knowledge and events.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, combined with a minimum of five (5) years recent related experience

OR

  • Certificate in marketing, communications, or a related field, with minimum of seven (7) years recent related experience.

Recent, related experience (within the last ten years) in North American marketing industry must include:

  • A minimum of two years working with the web with regards to web development, content management and marketing, information architecture, usability, and user centric design.
  • Experience in developing, executing and measuring a broad range of successful marketing and/or communications campaigns across various platforms (e.g., marketing, corporate communications, writing, branding, advertising, website, and e marketing) along with general experience in business and communications.
  • Experience with analytical tools, reporting and marketing programs to create strategies to optimize on-line sales performance.
  • Experience executing projects related to domain design, email campaigns, ecommerce.
  • Minimum two years of experience leading and managing web/mobile apps, digital marketing (including SEO/SEM, paid programmatic), developing digital strategy and advertising (blogs, SEM, social media, etc.), CRM database and messaging and social media channels to drive ecommerce acquisitions, leads, click-throughs and conversions.
  • Experience working with internal IT teams and/or web vendors to enhance website and other digital properties.

Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing e-commerce, digital marketing, and a team of direct reports.
  • Experience dealing with sensitive customer issues and complaints online.
  • Experience with CRM software and database management and managing loyalty and retention programs.
  • Experience in a large and/or geographically distributed multi-unit retail organization.

Extensive experience is defined as 3 years or more experience in the North American marketing industry.
